Public Health Watch Wins Two National Edward R. Murrow Awards
Public Health Watch and its media partners won national Edward R. Murrow awards Thursday for two investigative projects, “Uninsured in America” and “Fumed.”
“Uninsured in America,” an examination of the difficulties of life without health insurance produced in collaboration with Stateline, won in the Continuing Coverage category. “Fumed,” a podcast and digital series produced with Univision 45 in Houston that profiles people who live in the shadow of the Texas petrochemical industry, won in the News Series category.

Sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association, the Murrow awards are among “the most prestigious in news,” according to the RTDNA. They “recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community.”
“This is a gratifying outcome on the eve of our fifth anniversary,” said Jim Morris, founder and executive director of Public Health Watch. “It demonstrates the power of our collaborative model and will motivate our team to do even more remarkable work going forward.”
