Public Health Watch subscribes to standards of editorial independence recommended by the Institute for Nonprofit News, of which PHW is a member. We are committed to being transparent about our sources of funding.
Our organization retains full authority over editorial content to protect the best journalistic and business interests of Public Health Watch. We maintain a firewall between news coverage decisions and sources of all revenue. Accepting financial support does not mean we endorse those donors or their products, services or opinions.
We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the general support of our activities and, in some cases, to support special projects or coverage of specific topics. Our news judgments are made independently and are not based on or influenced by donors. We do not give donors the right to assign, review or edit content. We will not accept donations from sources who present a conflict of interest with our journalism or compromise our independence.
We make public the names of donors who give a total of $5,000 or more per year. We will accept anonymous donations for general support only if it is clear that sufficient safeguards have been put into place that the expenditure of that donation is made independently by Public Health Watch and in compliance with Institute for Nonprofit News’ membership standards.
